Question: For the last week or more I have been experiencing a dull pain in my left chest above the breast. It is near the center of the chest. It is not severe, but sometimes it radiates to my back as well. I have thought that possibly it is from a too-tight bra or indigestion, but now I'm beginning to worry a bit. It has subsided completely a couple of times, but then has returned.

Hello!

Welcome on -Ask a Doctor - service!

I passed carefully through your concern and would like to explain that current clinical symptomatology needs a careful medical evaluation.

First it is important to exclude a possible cardiac related issue, that is cardiac ischemia, which may appear wit ha similar clinical scenario.

Coming to this point, a comprehensive physical exam coupled with a resting ECG and testing of cardiac enzymes levels (lab tests) would be helpful.

A cardiac ultrasound test would be necessary to explore any possible structural and functional cardiac disorder.

You should know that other health disorders may resemble such complaints (including a digestive problem, esophageal spasm, gastro-esophageal reflux, a musculo-skeletal disorder, etc.

You should discuss with your attending doctor on the above mentioned issues.

Hope to have been helpful to you!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
