Pregnancy is a sensitive phase and extra care should be be taken, there are number of dental problems which a female experience during pregnancy few are pregnancy gingivitis, tumor, periodontal diseases, this may be due amplified levels of progesterone and estrogen in the body.When you eat tiny particles of food gets stuck between your teeth and gums this particles invities bacteria resulting in inflammation & redness of gums known as GINGIVITIS.
If untreated, gingivitis can develop into periodontitis which includes bleeding from gums, tooth loss and infection. In periodontal diseases there is increased risk of preterm lobour and having low birthweight babies.
Some bacteria which dwell in the mouth circulate in the blood stream and the toxic products produced by them can cross the placental barrier and reach the feotus.
You need a symptomatic treatment for maintaining a good gum health, i would suggest you to go for a complete mouth scaling and polishing.
Mouthrinsing with lukewarm saline or antiseptic solution helps in giving a soothing effect.
