Good Afternoon, I Have Been Feeling Sick Since Yesterday Morning.

Question: Good afternoon, I have been feeling sick since yesterday morning. I woke up suddenly and was nauseous, vomiting, fever, and had diarrhea. I have had a sharp pain in my lower back since yesterday, I don't seem to have fever anymore. I had been unable to hold any food or fluids down but I can now drink water and eat crackers but feel stomach pain when I do. I have also been defecating blood since yesterday. As soon as I no longer had diarrhea the only thing that would come out was about a teaspoon of blood. This is still the case if I go. Just wondering if I should wait it out or if I should go somewhere.
Brief Answer:
It can be a gastroenteritis.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
The symptoms and signs are consistent with gastroenteritis or stomach flu. In most cases it is caused by contaminated food or water, generally it will settle in few days with simple supportive management.
As of now you can take over the counter available antacids like omeprazole along with antiemetics like domperidone for symptomatic relief.
Drink plenty of water or ORS to keep yourself hydrated.
You can wait couple of days for spontaneous recovery.
If you are experiencing blood in stool a stool routine examination is required and in that case antibiotics may be required.
Hope I have answered your query.
Thanks
