Good Evening, I Recently Had My Jaw Wired Shut For
Question: Good evening, I recently had my jaw wired shut for 6 dreadful long weeks which is mentally draining and I’m dying for food and to get back to normal as soon as possible and I found out this past Monday that I’ve had an Infection in my wisdom tooth in the “site” of the fracture now when. I went to the dentist they told me almost immediately that I had to get the tooth taken out which wasn’t a problem it became a problem when she said that she’ll have to rewire me again. I just wanna know do you think that Is necessary I’m having a hard time right now because I feel like I may be pregnant & im not eating as much as I’m suppose too! Now also when she took out my jaw wiring she was really rough and I’ve watched YouTube videos and I’ve seen that doctors aren’t usually as rough as she was with me I’m not sure what to do about that , but I do wanna know if you think that it’s necessary if I get my jaw rewired for additional weeks :(

I have read your query and gone through the radiograph you have attached. As far as i have observed infection in region of wisdom tooth is can be due to impacted wisdom tooth.
If treatment planned extraction of wisdom tooth then arch wiring is to be removed then extraction followed by rewiring for additional weeks. All procedure is to be done under Anaesthesia.
Inmeantime as you can take few measure to avoid pain and extraction of wisdom tooth .
- Do warm saline water rinse two to three times a day.
- Do povidine iodine rinse once a day.
- Take medicine like Tablet Paracetamol if pain persists for long time by consulting with local doctor.
Follow these measures hope this will help you. If symptoms persists then consult your local dentist and go for radiogragh and treatment.
Be relaxed , dont be worried so much procedure done in local Anaesthesia you will not get pain .
