Good Evening. I’ve Been Advised Several Times Following Upper Endoscopy

Question: Good evening. I’ve been advised several times following upper endoscopy that I have lab results suggestive of eosinphilic esophagitis. The endoscopy was due to recurrent difficulty swallowing some types of food. I am currently taking PPIs daily for this.

At one point, I was prescribed an inhaler (I don’t recall which mediation), but my compliance was low, and the medication quite expensive, even with insurance.

I understand that this could be related to allergic reaction. I’ve never known myself to have a food allergy. Apart from resuming the inhaler, what should my next steps be? Moreover, aside from allergy, are there other conditions that could cause EE?

Brief Answer:
Hii. I am telling you the guidelines. You have to consult to an Ent surgeon

Detailed Answer:
Hii. I am telling you the guidelines. You have to consult to an Ent surgeon and a Gastroenterologist. The Ent surgeon need to check your nose and larynx thoroughly. Get a nasal and laryngeal endoscopy done to see whether there is any allergic inflammation is present in the nose and larynx which your oesophagus is getting affected. Do a x ray paranasal sinus to check your sinuses. If there is any allergic inflammation present in the sinus, start a nasal fluticasone and saline nasal spray. Start steam inhalation and an antiallergic tablet levocetrizine. Get your laryngeal endoscopy to see whether your vocal cords are normal or not. If there is any allergic response in the cords you can start pantoprazole tablet. But the most important thing is your visit a pulmonary medicine physician and a Gastroenterologist. Eosinophilis oesophagitis can take place due to allergy to pollen grains, moulds, dust, insects. So pulmonary medicine doctor should do an allergen testing, x ray chest. You need to start on some salbutamol and budesonile inhalers to decrease the allergy. Stay away from above allergens. Doba gastroscopy and if needed take a biopsy for oesophagus to know the nature of the oesophagitis. Continue pantoprazole tablet. Try less spicy food. Drink more water. It's a ellaborate procedures to visit all the above doctors but follow the guidelines. Please review if you have any queries.
