Question: Good morning Doc Been having nausea symptoms the past couple big days and that's it. I have been taking a for a couple of months statins. The first month plus was Lipitor and I changed because the liver enzymes went up to double and triple. I stopped taking everything for a month and almost went back to normal. Now I am on Stator10. I don't know if this has anything to do with this. Thanks Stay safe Aryeh

Brief Answer:
Both Stator and Lipitor are same thing"Atorvastatin".

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for choosing "Ask a Doctor" service for your query,
Have seen your details and I appreciate your concerns,
As per the query both lipitor and Stator contains the same salt (Atorvastatin).
Deranged lipid is due to Stator this time and is causing nausea .
Stop Stator and switch over to other options like Niacin or Fenofibrinate.
You need to consult your GP for it.
In the mean time Zofran 4 mg can be taken for nausea control.
Thank you.

Hi Dr XXXXXXX Thanks for your response. Could this be why I feel Nauseated because of the Stator10? I can only get another statin on Sunday as we are in lockdown here so not taking anything until Sunday I don't think will cause damage. So the Nausia could be because of the statin? Thanks Doc

Hey Dr XXXXXXX I have attached a copy of my blood work from February 16th when I was taking the Lipitor, when I stopped it ,then even while taking Stator10 my liver function was almost back to normal. I will stop the Stator 10 until Sunday when I speak with my GP just wanted to get your opinion as the Liver enzymes didn't go higher then this. Thanks and hope your safe Aryeh

Brief Answer:
Follow up.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
Have gone through reports
Try to understand sir both of them contains the same thing. Its just like branding same chocloate by two different brand names.
You need to discuss it with your GP/Dr who changed the medicine(because the salt is same he just changed the brand name).

May be the cause of liver enzyme derangement at that time was any thing else and taking Statin was just a matter of coincidence.
Thank you!
