Question: Good morning,
My left-hand thumb stretched uncontrollably towards the palm of my hand while bending the opposite way. It was very painful and left my thumb sensitive trough this morning. I have never experienced anything like this before. I am a very healthy 68-year-old female.
Please help with some guidance.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Could be trigger thumb.

Detailed Answer:
Hi I am Dr Gopal Goel, Orthopedic Surgeon .
I have gone through your details and in my opinion you are suffering from a condition called Trigger Thumb. In this there is a small nodule at the base of thumb anteriorly which blocks certain movements.
Start pain killers ,local heat and local analgesic cream. If there is no improvement in 2-3 weeks , consult orthopedic surgeon for local injection. Rarely surgery may be required.
Thanks for the question. Please feel free to ask any other question.
