Brief Answer:
Better to give

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
I understand your concern.

There are two types of vaccines in India- routine vaccines(given free by government) and optional vaccines(to be bought separately). Both are needed, and recommended. The difference is that, due to their higher cost, government is not able to supply free of cost to the entire population. Hepatitis A vaccine(protects from viral hepatitis-A) is an optional vaccine.

So, if you are able to afford, it is better to give. Approximate cost is 1200-1500 INR(two doses needed 6 months apart). If difficult to take, give strict attention to food and water hygiene, as hepatitis A is spread through contaminated food and water.

Hope I have answered your query

Brief Answer:
Not a must

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Welcome back, and so happy to know that you have vaccinated him.

I guess now you are talking about meningococcal conjugate vaccine(MCV).

Meningococcal vaccine protects against meningitis(infection of brain covering) caused by meningococcus bacteria. Although less common, this is a dangerous infection.

But, considering low prevalence of this infection in XXXXXXX and high cost(single dose costs around 4500-500INR), this vaccine is not routinely recommended for all healthy children. This is recommended in certain high risk groups with immunodeficiency states. Even if we are giving for a healthy child, it is better to give after 2 years.

In short, if he is an otherwise healthy kid with no risk factors, there is nothing wrong in refusing this vaccine for cost issue.

Hope I have answered your query

Hi XXXXXXX
Welcome back

JEEV is given to prevent Japanese Encephalitis. This is a serious infection of brain that can lead to death or severe neurological sequelae when infected.

Although not routinely recommended throughout XXXXXXX this vaccine is recommended for all children in endemic areas(areas where this virus is common). Around 250 districts in XXXXXXX are endemic for this virus. This includes many districts in XXXXXXX Pradesh, XXXXXXX West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Andra Pradesh and few other states. If you belongs to endemic area, this vaccine should be completed.

Anyhow, since he had already received the first dose, let us complete the schedule, as this will ensure protection from the deadly virus.

Brief Answer:
Include iron rich items in diet

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Good evening, and welcome back

Treatment of anemia depends on its cause and severity. Most common cause is nutritional anemia which occur because of inadequate iron in our diet.

Before treatment, ideally we have to find out the cause and severity of anemia. Usually two simple blood tests will be sufficient for this- Hemoglobin level and a peripheral smear test. Children normally should have Hemoglobin level above 11-12g/dL.

Mild degrees of anemia need only diet modification- include lot of iron rich items in diet. These includes dark green leafy vegetables, beans, peas, dried fruits and nuts. Sea food and meat are very rich iron if you are non-vegetarian. Vitamin C rich items like citrus fruits, grapes and broccoli, when taken together, enhances iron absorption from bowel

Moderate symptomatic anemia needs treatment with iron supplements. Symptoms include fatigue, weakness, poor appetite, inadequate weight gain and pica(urge to eat non nutritive things like dirt, mud, chalk). Such cases definitely needs investigation followed by iron supplements for few months.

Blood transfusion is needed only very rarely, in a child with severe anemia with symptoms of cardiac failure, or when there is no response to iron treatment. This is extremely rare and we need not worry about this now.

I hope this answer will help
If you need further clarification, I will be happy to help

Brief Answer:
Kindly give present vaccination status

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
I will be only happy to address your concerns.

To explain about the due vaccines available in government/private sector, kindly give me the following details:

1. The child's present vaccination status- that means, what all vaccines already received. If some optional vaccines has already started, it is better we complete the booster doses also, to ensure adequate protection.
If possible, kindly upload a photo of his vaccination card. This will be very helpful for me.

2. Your area of residence. Free vaccines offered by government may vary among states/regions.

Kindly get back with details, so that I can guide you better

Best option is mentioned below

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
Thank you for sharing the card.

As it is difficult to give a detailed review/comparison between vaccines in government and private sectors in a single sitting, here I am giving you the best cost effective option below.

Vaccines to be bought from private sector(optional vaccines) are * marked.
Note that, the optional vaccines mentioned here are better to give, either because it has already been started before, or because it is necessary.

1. At 15 months: PCV booster*

2. At 16-18 months: DTP booster-1, MR, OPV, JE-2*

3. At 18 months: Hep-A2*

4. At 2 years: Typhoid booster*

5. At 4-6 years: DTP booster-2, OPV

6. At 10 years: TT

This is the best suitable schedule considering previous vaccinations and financial burden. Anyhow, if you need further clarification, kindly get back to me on due time. Then I can guide you to compare available options and select the most suitable one at that particular time

I hope this answer will help

Brief Answer:
Better to take now, if it was from private sector.

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,

The schedule of JE vaccine is different in government(uses live vaccine) and private sector(uses inactivated vaccine).

In government, this is given at 9 months(9-12) and 15 months(16-24). In private, two doses are given 1 month apart.

In short, if you have taken first dose from government, second dose can be taken at 16-18 months. If first dose was from private, second dose is to be given after 1 months of first dose.

Even if delayed, we need not worry. The interval of 4 weeks is the minimum gap required between two doses. A delay of 10-15 days is not an issue and will not reduce efficacy/protection. Just take it now.

I hope this answer will help
