Question: Greetings. I️ had a medical abortion on 9/11/20. I️ was 7 weeks along. I️ have been bleeding intermittently since then (due to the procedure, but also possibly to new menstrual cycle starting?). I️ have been taking a pregnancy test almost every week since the procedure. Hi,
Welcome to Ask A Doctor service.
I am Dr Ramadevi Wani. I will be answering your concerns today.
I have read your notes. Usually the bleeding after medical abortion should resolve by two weeks time.
The fact that you have intermittent bleeding since then, and your pregnancy test is positive today, there is a possibility that the abortion process was not complete.
First get an ultrasound done to see if there are any remnants of products of conception still remaining in the uterus. We need to assess this first.
Best wishes
