HI I Had A Prostatectomy 1.5 Years Ago, Since Then
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: HI
I had a prostatectomy 1.5 years ago, since then I have been impotent. Last night I injected trimax into my penis. After about 45 min I had a full erection. I went to sleep and 4 hours later woke up and still had the erection. The instructions said to go to emergency if that happened - however I poured cold water on it, had a cool shower and peddled on a stationary bike for about 20 min. and the erection went away, though was not completely flaccid.
1) Do you think there will be any complications?
2) Should I take this medication again? and what are the likely side affects?
I took only the recommended amount for the first time which supposedly was a very low dose 0.05 ml (5 units).
thanks XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
It is definitely a side effect of trimax.
Detailed Answer:
Hi sir,
Welcome to ask a doctor service,
I have gone through your query and can certainly understand your concern towards your symptoms.
Yes it might be definitely due to the side effect of trimax as it may cause prolonged erection, bleeding and some times penile discharge.
So, at your age it is not advisable one , it is better to avoid .
You can start tadalafil which is more safer and effective for erectile dysfunction.
Hope this information would help you.
Looking forward for your concerns if any.

Hi
Could you please elaborate on why the injections are not recommended for someone my age. My urologist prescribed them.

Brief Answer:
It is not the point of recommended or not.
Detailed Answer:
Hi sir,
Welcome back,
I would mean that it is clearly evident that you have suffered the complication because of injection, so your body may not be tolerant to the drug as it varies from individual to individual which is known as pharmacokinetics.
So, I would advise you to opt for the most effective treatment and least risk of complications.
Hope this information would help you.
