HI I Have Neuropathy In My Legs - It Started

Question: HI I have neuropathy in my legs - it started in my feet and has now gone above my knees. I have no pain and perhaps half the normal feeling - Is there anything I can do about this to keep it expanding - I take B12 vit. I am very active do about 2 hours of exercise a day. thanks, Geg

I have noted your clinical details. Based on this, you are suffering from large fibre neuropathy, In addition to B12, you could add alpha lipoic acid and pyridoxine.

Additionally, we need to find out the root cause of peripheral neuropathy. This would require investigations such as nerve conduction studies, HbA1C (to screen for diabetes), thyroid function tests and nerve biopsy (biopsy is needed in a few cases).

Hi I did have the nerve conduction tests and the doctors felt I do not have diabetes or thyroid neuropathy and that I have genetic neuropathy.

Are there any side effects to alpha lipoic acid and pyridoxine?
