Question: HI
What things can I do to help recover faster from my sports. I bike ride about 20 km per day. I have an arthritic knee which gets sore from biking - what really makes my knees and feet sore is walking. I also go in Whitewater Kayak Slalom events which are very intense - my muscles are very sore for a few days afterwards. I am 71, take no medication. thanks

Brief Answer:
Can be due to osteoarthritis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The soreness of the muscles that you have can be related to osteoarthritic changes in the knees. For relief, you need to take a mild pain killer along with an oral muscle relaxant. Doing a hot compress and application of local analgesic gel will also help. It is best to consult an orthopedician and get proper prescription medicines for relief.
I hope this answers your query.

Brief Answer:
Vitamin D supplements and regular stertching can help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
The stiffness needs proper stretching and warming up of the muscles before the exercise. You can also take regular vitamin D supplements and increase your electrolyte rich fluid intake to help with this stiffness.
