Had Copper Coil Removed. Passing Smelly Vaginal Discharge. Took Flagyl And Amoxicillin. Worrisome
Question: I have very smelly discharge. No itchiness, no swelling, no pain, no burning on urinating. It goes during menstruation and then returns. I have taken flagyl and amoxicillin. No help
This problem started when I forgot a tampon in November. This was resolved but smell persist. I had copper coil removed in January. Sometimes the Smell is not so bad But it never goes away.

The symptom of smelly discharge indicates infection, for which you have already taken antibiotics, which you say hasn't helped you.
Since there are no associated symptoms like burning in urine or itching etc, I think you would be helped by just another antibiotic course.
I wanted to know whether you are sexually active or not?
If yes, you and your husband both need to take the antibiotic simultaneously and avoid intercourse for at least one week.
Other few things which you need to take care are as follows:
- Drink plenty of water,
- Whenever you pass urine, pass it forcefully to flush off all the bacteria or contaminants.
- After intercourse, get up and pass urine.
- And lastly, maintain local hygiene.
If you take care of the above mentioned things, you would not get local infection.
Don't worry, take care.
