Had Piles Banding And Colonoscopy. Noticed Swelling And Pain In Stomach. Concerned

I see you are generally a healthy male with no prior
abdominal problems. You had a band ligation surgery
for hemorrhoids and two days ago had a colonoscopy.
You state that one side of the abdomen is swollen.
The most common cause of abdominal swelling is
retained gas in the intestines from the procedure.
Eventhough we try to remove most of the air that
we introduce to open up the colon to look around
to make sure that you don't have any tumors or
other problems, some of the air gets trapped in
the bends and causes the distension. When once you
have a good bowel movement or expel air, you will
get immediate relief. Make sure you drink lots of
fluids and move around. You can also try massaging
your belly , lying down flat on your back. Start from
right lower quadrant and work up and then to the
left side all the way down to your left groin.
If you do this a few times, that should help you.
Some people suggest, if you lay on your belly for
15-20 minutes and then change position, this will also
move the trapped gas.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
