Had Post Polio Syndrome, On Wheel Chair. Swollen Feet And Legs. How To Overcome This?
Question: MY WIFE AS SWOLLEN FEET AND LEGS SHE IS IN A WHEEL CHAIR BECAUSE SHE HAD POST POLO SYNDROME SHE AS BEEN IN THE CHAIR FOR 2 YEARS KNOW CAN YOU HELP US
Most of the time when people are wheelchair-bound they get swelling in the legs and feet because of venous insufficiency which requires diuretic medications like Lasix. I would recommend that your wife go to a doctor and make sure there are not other causes such as kidney or liver or heart problems that can cause leg swelling, and then get treated with diuretic pills to decrease the fluid in the legs even more. In addition, compression stockings work really well without having to take medication or as a supplement to the medication. Hope this helps.
