Prolonged use of certain antibiotics, corticosteroids can lead to the development of recurrent Oral Thrush.
Antihypertensive can be rarely or indirectly be associated with oral thrush, decreased salivary secretion, mouth dryness and XEROSTOMIA which makes the mouth suseptible to many kind of infection like bacterial and fungal.
Consult the treating Doctor for detailed clinical examination. If the patient is suffering from xerostomia, you can discuss with your PHYSICIAN and talk him about drug induced xerostomia and thereby Oral thrush.
Tiredeness and weakness is due to difficulty in eating, give her semisolid diet, juices , soups. Consult to an PROSTHODONTIST , go for a thorough clinical examination and take a second opinion regarding the ill fitting dentures, once the infection in her mouth is reduced she can get a set of well fitting dentures.
The following are few simple treatment for oral thrush which you can follow at home;
-You can do symptomatic treatment at home by regular mouth rinsing with
antiseptic mouthwash like betadine or chlorhexidne or simply lukewarm
saline water.
-Maintain a good oral hygiene, drink plenty of water to keep her hydrated.
-Avoid alcohol, carbonated drinks and smoking as it may worsen the condition.
