Question: Hai
I am 43 years age. Male.
I have one issue from long time...
After taking breakfast, lunch and dinner, I get one or two cough and some Phlegm (little mucus type) come out. Other time I don't get the same, only after eating only... this issue is there from two years time... I thought it will get cured automatically, but not cured... I also don't get quality breathing for some minutes after lunch or dinner...
I don't have any other health issues except sinusitis... this is there from more than 10 years...
I do regular walking and gym... some times after heavy gym workout... a little bit breathing issue will be there till night also.
So kindly guide me by considering above issue...
I have CHEST X RAY report and MRI THORAZ... both are are attaching... also I am attaching MRI of PNS for your reference...

Brief Answer:
Possibility of GERD related symptoms is more likely.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Ask a doctor forum.
I can understand your concern.
I have gone through the reports you have attached.
Since your cough is typically associated with eating food, possibility of GERD (gastro esophageal reflux disease) is more likely.
So in my opinion, you should get done upper GI scopy for the diagnosis of GERD and cough.
Or you can try antacid like pantoprazole 40 mg twice daily before food (before breakfast and dinner) and look for improvement.
Please let me know if you have tried antacids before.
I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

Dear Sir
Thanks for you reply
I never tried any antacids. I will start pantoprazole 40 mg twice... immediately and let you know result.
1. Are you sure it is GERD ?
my symptom is ONE OR TWO COUGH & LITTLE PHLEGM COMES OUT.... it is very common after food.... but BREATHING UNEASY after food... is VERY rare.... it is only some times.
2. as per my chest X Ray "Lungs show accentuation of bronchovascular markings"
what is meaning of the same ??
3. Is upper GI scopy really required ? how helpful for GERD ?
Thanks and regards

Brief Answer:
No harm in trying pantoprazole first.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Ask a doctor forum.
No harm in trying pantoprazole first.
If it is helping you then possibility of GERD as a cause is more.
Then we need to confirm this on Upper GI scopy.
So Upper GI scopy is must if we are suspecting GERD.
And accentuated bronchovascular markings are not much of a significance. So no need to worry for this.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
