Hard To Swallow, Hear Click When Swallow, Night Sweats, Foggy Brain, Itchy Skin And Migraines. Thyroid Normal. Cause?
Thank you for contacting XXXXXXX with your question.
You mention difficulty swallowing . If you have this
with liquids and solids alike , you may have motility
disorder affecting the esophagus. If you have trouble
with solids only , we have to think about partial blockage
from stricture or narrowing of the lumen of the esophagus
from some sort of inflammation and scarring most likely
caused by acid reflux. I noted that you mention IBS as one
of the conditions you have been diagnosed with. This may
also affect the esophagus some times. Itchy skin could be
from a number of things including lack of humidity , allergy etc.
What you need initially is to have an esophagram and upper GI
x-ray to look for anatomical abnormalities such as Schatzki's ring
which is associated with hiatus hernia. Some times there are
small pouches called diverticulum which can be present in the
esophagus and this can cause pressure when filled with food and
give you trouble swallowing. Acid reflux can cause sinus infections,
dental enamel problems, chronic cough , sleeplessness etc. It can
also make Asthma symtoms worse.
You can discuss these with your doctor and have appropriate tests.
I wish you well.
