Has CHF And Thick Mucus. Takes Levothyroxine. Has Flash Pulmonary Edema And Hypothyroid. Safe To Use Guaifenisen?
Question: My 88 yo mother has CHF and thick mucous; can she safely use guaifenisen? Also takes Levothyroxine.

She can use guaic, it will be more of use if you choose a combination syrup like guaic and ammonium chloride, potassium citrate which loosen the mucous.
Vapour nebulisation would also help.
CHF as such can lead to cough and excess phlem. Get her evaluated in if needed escalate antifailure measures.
