Have ITP. Low Platelet Count. Prescribed Wysolone And Antacid. Permanent Cure?
Question: my wife is 34 and with normal BP and weight is 120 kg (obesity ) she has ITP and frequently her platelet count fall and come back on her own yesterday her drop went to 2 k shown it to Hematologist M B XXXXXXX and he has given wysolone and some condolent with antacid i am worried so writing to u is there any permanent cure for ITP my email id is YYYY@YYYY

ITP means idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura. Idiopathic means unknown cause. But it is believed the body's own immune system is producing antibodies that destroys the platelets.
The treatment option available is steroids which she is already taking and some immunosuppressant. IV immunoglobulins are also given. Platelets transfusion is required in case of very low platelet count and need to be hospitalized
The disease usually gets symptom free with the use of the drugs and responds well to drugs but the drugs or any surgery cannot cure the disease instead the aim of treatment is to stop the progression of the disease and make the patient symptom free.

is it life threatening ? does one has a permanent cure
It can be life threatening incase the platelet count decreases too low and bleeding occur. you should be much careful to avoid conditions that can cause excessive bleeding like peptic ulcers, trauma and cuts otherwise the disease is controlled with medication
There is no permanent cure but with treatment we aim to slow or stop progression of disease
