Have Bitter Taste In Mouth And Fever. Suggestion?
The commonest cause of a bitter taste in the mouth i disease of the bile secretions. The gall bladder around the bladder secretes bile important for the process of digestion. Excessive secretion of bile, blockage in the bile drainage system that causes accumulation of bile upstream (can either be within the bile duct or the duedenum) or gastrointenstunal reflux disease could cause bile to get to the level of the mouth and one feels a bitter sensation. Other symptoms, if noted like, dark colored urine, yellowish eyes or generalized body itches could further strengthen this possibility.
Other rare causes of bitter taste in the mouth like gastric reflux on its own, certain drugs should be carefully explored. A careful clinical evaluation, an abdominal ultrasound to check for size and structure of the gall bladder, drainage system and liver are important. Running tests for biliary and liver function (ASAT, ALAT, %' Nucleotidase, Gamma GT, serum Total and free Bilirubine) could very helpful.
I suggest you book an appointment with your gastroenterologist. An endoscopy of the esophagus, stomach and duedenum could be very helpful in widening and confirming the diagnosis frame.
The treatment is usually simple and very favorable when cause is identified.
Thanks and hope this helps as I wish you the best. Feel free asking further questions if need be. Kind regards,
