Have Constipation, Pressure Under Sternum And Found Lump In Rectum. What Could This Possibly Be?
Question: I have been having misc gi issues since August. Gas constipation diahrrea pressure under sternum. Now I am more prone to the diahrrea. Have hemroids from having frequent bowel movements. Was going to treat myself with preparation h. When I went to insert it the tip hit something. I thought perhaps I had alternated back to constipation. Since I already had a glove on I checked. Not constipation but about an inch inch and a half up closer to left side of rectum on wall I felt a firm lump about the size of a grape. Now very concerned. My gp checked for blood in my stool by rectal. But don't know if she actually checked the rectum itself. Had a gastric dr appt yesterday he did not do a rectal exam but wants to do an upper scope. Because I do have anxiety issues he basically said my problems were probably due to anxiety. Now I'm concerned its something else. Also had a XXXXXXX abdominal ct scan
About two weeks ago. Does this show your rectum? The only thing they said was that I had an ovarian cyst. What could this possibly be?

Hello!
Thank you for the query.
Your symptoms might be caused by IBS due to anxiety. However it needs to be investigated and some diseases must be ruled out first.
The lump you have found in your rectum might be a hemorrhoid, polyp or some other tumor. It can be nothing as well. The best way to get this verified is colonoscopy which you should have done as soon as possible. During this test, samples from this lump will be collected for histopathology.
Abdominal CT in most cases will not show such tumor.
So in conclusion, do not be worry as this is probably something benign, however do not neglect it as well, as this can be a cancer.
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
