Have Got Positive Diagnosis On Line For Diabetes. Have History Of Diabetes In Both Family. Suggestion?
Question: Hi Dr,
I hav just done a diagnosis on line and have recieved a diagnosis of 99.1 % for Diabetes,Which there is a history of in both sides of my family,all of which hav all been dagnosed around the age of 50 to 60 years of age, i hav had regular tests for it but it has never been diagnosed Where from here. Strong history of Diabetes in the family is a risk factor for developing diabetes in an individual. Because it is a hereditary disease.
Along with hereditary other factors like obesity, sedentary lifestyle also place a major role in the development of diabetes.
This type of diabetes(Type II diabetes) occurs in the third and fourth decade of life.
In your family all have acquired the disease of 50 years of age.
This is because as the age advances the insulin producing Beta cells of the pancreas decrease in number and due to this the level of insulin decreases and no more able to control the blood sugar and produces hyperglycemia and leads to Diabetes mellitus.
Online assessment will be any to calculate the risk but the final diagnosis is through blood test.
To diagnosis Diabetes mellitus
FBS More than 126 mg/dl
PPBS more than 200 mg/dl
HbA1c more than 5.8 %
