Question : I have IgE ELISA result of 584, and eosinophil count of 11...the later means allergic conditions, but what does the IgE indicate?

Thank you for posting a query.

Look, basically, IgE is the immunoglobulin E which is very much essential for type 1 hypersensitivity reaction. That means when there is an acute allergic reaction, then there is higher IgE level.

Clinically, IgE level of more than 380 is taken as cut off value to declare an allergic reaction.

The eosinophil count is also higher than normally found.

So, both of these parameters indicate that you are suffering from an acute allergic reaction. This allergic reaction may occur due to allergy to anything like dust, cold, egg, coconut, etc. But in case of some parasitic infection, the eosinophil count may get increased. So, you have to consult with your treating doctor for a detailed clinical examination.

For allergic reactions to any common agents, you have to take cetirizine 10 mg before bedtime. And you have to avoid that particular food or medicine to get relief from the allergic reaction.
