Have Impacted Bowel, Used Soap Water Enema But Failed. What Do I Do?
Question: what do you do if you have an impacted bowel and have used a soap water enema that has failed to yield any results? it has not even expelled the water from the enema
Hi
Thanks for posting your query
The Information that you have provided is suggestive of propulsive disorder of intestines rather than impacted stool
If enemas and manual evacuation has not worked, get yourself examined by a surgeon to see if there is really any residual fecal matter in the anal canal
If no - take lubiprostone 24 mg twice a day and Lactulose 15 ml twice a day
Take plenty of fluids and lot of fiber in the diet
If there is impacted stool the ER nurse should be able to manually remove it, as trying to do it your self would be difficult, there has to be a syncronization of pressure from your side and manual evacuation by the nurse
Hope this helps
Am available for followup queries
