Hello XXXXXXX
Welcome to HealthcareMagic and thank you for trusting us with your health question.
I have gone through your query in detail and here is my advice.
Red itchy bumps with oozing in the genital area can be due to Herpes simplex infection (which is a viral infection) or allergic contact dermatitis.
It is very difficult to differentiate between the two without a proper physical examination. Both the conditions present very similarly and are self-subsiding.
Allergic contact dermatitis can occur due to exposure to any allergenic factors like perfumes, skin products, condoms, new soap, laundry detergent etc.
Please make a note on if you have used any new products that could trigger such a reaction.
Herpes is a viral infection transmitted sexually. The virus may remain dormant in your body for many years and cause intermittent bout of symptoms.
Please be advised to follow up with your primary provider to confirm the diagnosis and rule out any secondary bacterial infection of the rash.
Meanwhile, keep the area clean and dry.
- Wash with mild soap and warm water.
- Apply moisturizing lotion.
- Continue using Neosporin. You may also continue the antibiotic cream (it would be best if you could provide the name of the ointment you are using so that I can confirm its safety/efficacy)
- You can also take over the counter Cetirizine 10 mg at bedtime if itching is bothersome.
- Wear loose fitting breathable cotton undergarments.
- Use a condom if engaging in intercourse.
- I do not recommend applying any kind of over the counter steroid ointment on the rash until the diagnosis is confirmed.
Hope I was able to help you.
Please let me know if you have any more questions or concerns
