Have Peripheral Neuropathy. Is There Any Medicine For This?
Question: I do not have diabetes, but I have had peripheral neuropathy since back surgery three years ago. Do any doctors specialize in this field, and most importantly is there any medicine I can take for relief.
Brief Answer:
Neurologist works on peripheral neuropathy.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I am dr XXXXXXX and I will try my level best to help you.
The PERIPHERAL NEUROPATHY is part of neurology and they tend to deal with it.
If you do not have diabetes related neuropathy then their are two other causes that can lead to neuropathy.
1) ALCOHOLIC NEUROPATHY
and
2) NUTRITIONAL DEFICIENCY NEUROPATHY.
So both of them are addressed in different sense.
1) alcoholic - is treated with stoping alcohol. and taking vitamin supplements.
and
2) nutritional deficiency is treated with taking vitamin B supplements.
With omega-3 fatty acid supplements.
Thanks for the query. Please feel free to contact me in case of further concerns.
