Have White Spots In Mouth. Is This Normal?

Thanks for writing your query.
I have gone through your history and images of your oral mucosa. It does not look worrisome. Do you have a very long history of this patches?
By clinical examination I can tell you, you have developed severe acute pharyngitis.
It is inflammation of the mucous membrane of the throat caused by bacterial infection like streptococci infection.
I can see the signs of redness, pus filled blisters on the mucosa, swelling and lesions on peritonsillilar Crypts, these are the sings of inflammation.
Pharyngitis presents with symptoms of pain, difficulty in swallowing, burning sensation of the throat.
Infection has spread to other mucosal parts of oral cavity including the sulcus area and cheek mucosa but prominently it's affecting the throat mucosa.
I would suggest you to maintain good oral hygiene so prevent secondary infection.
Use antiseptic mouthwash like Betadine or Chlorhexidine for mouth gargling, this will give soothing effect to throat.
Gargling with lukewarm saline water at home also helps is healing.
Avoid hot and spicy food, consume lot of water and keep yourself hydrated.
A course of antibiotics like Cephalosporins or Amoxicillin with Clavulanate along with analgesics will help in relieving the symptoms and cure the problem.
But I suggest you to get the evaluation done by a doctor and follow the course of antibiotics.
As you have mentioned you are not a smoker is a good sign, avoid alcohol, carbonated drinks, spices and condiments.
I hope this information was satisfactory,
Let me know if you need further assistance .
Take care,
Regards,
Dr. Farah Hussain.

I now for pharyngitis and I also have it for a long time. I'll do salt water gargles and antiseptic.
Therefore what's your thoughts?
Thanks for writing back.
As you have mentioned the condition persists for nearly a year now this indicates it is a chronic condition so it should not be neglected at all.
Yes, such chronic oral conditions may progress to malignancy that is oral cancer if not treated in time.
Sometimes autoimmune diseases are also responsible for such chronic problems.
I can just give provisional diagnosis and cannot confirm without actually examining it. Final diagnosis can be made only after clinical examination. Hence, do Consult an oral surgeon (OMF-Oromaxillofacial surgeon) and get the evaluation done, you may have to go for certain tests like complete blood profile , blood and urine sugar levels , thyroid profile which helps in diagnosis.
Do get a biopsy test done to rule out oral malignancies, an oral surgeon’s opinion and evaluation will be helpful.
Hope this helps.
Take care.

What you mean by autoimmune deaceases?
Appearance of white patches is one of the signs seen in pharyngitis.
Any condition that show long standing symptoms is chronic condition as in your case the symptoms persists for about a year.
As I have mentioned in the last answer oral malignancies also shows sings of white patchy mucosa like leukoplakia, oral sub mucous fibrosis , this can be confirmed by a biopsy test .
Autoimmune disease is caused by inappropriate response of the immune system of the body.
I have mentioned the treatment in my first answer. If the condition does not subside with that, you need to go for diagnostic tests for confirmation and accordingly treatment can be planned.
Do write to me and let me know the progress .
Take care

Because you said it looks normal in the beginning.
I have mentioned few possibilities by seeing the images, diagnosis cannot be made without visual examination and necessary tests .
Ok so you got to tell me this , if you are feeling white fibrotic thick bands in the cheek mucosa and symptoms like burning sensation on taking hot food stuffs then it is suggestive of oral sub mucous fibrosis (OSMF)
Formation of thick fibre like bands is the sign of OSMF
Leukoplakia is seen as flat ulcerated white lesions but without biopsy we cannot confirm.
Do get the tests done and please get back to me with the details.
Take care.
