Question: Hi.. I am 66 years old and have recently had a burning sensation I think around or near my cervix. I am currently taking antibiotics for a UTI but was occuring before that. I no longer have sexual relations, no discharge or bleeding. My most recent Pap smear was several years ago but am scheduled for one.

Hi Gaillee...,
Welcome to healthcare Magic!
The cervix is an XXXXXXX organ an you will not have sensation of itching or pain from this organ. The itching is from either the vagina or urethra.
Cause may be senile vaginitis or pathology.
It is highly advisable that you have a Pap smear done, a urine routine and culture test is also to be done.
If local infection, you will need antibiotics and if senile vaginitis then local estrogen cream will be helpful.
I hope the advise would be informative and useful for you.
