Having Kidney Stones And UTI. Prescribed With Levofloxacin, Alfuzosin And Potassium Citrate Syrup. Suggest When It Has To Be Taken

I believe the levofloxacin is once daily for 5 days - should that be before food or after food and can it be taken anytime of the day? Similarly for Alfuzosin and the Pantoprazole + Domperidone tablet? The syrup was supposed to be twice daily, morning and night. Does it matter if its before of after food?
All medications dosage and timing given sir
Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.
Thank you for writing to us.
Yes sir, the levofloxacin 500 mg is to be taken once a day for 5-7 days, preferably to be taken after food in the morning.
The alfuzosin is to be taken once daily immediately after a meal. You can choose which meal you want to take it with, but please remember, it is to be taken immediately after the same meal everyday, please do try not to change this. This medication will have to be continued till your doctor thinks it best to be discontinued, so as of now, no limit on the duration.
The pantoprazole + domperidone is to be taken before food (around 15 minutes before your meal) either once or twice a day; in your case I guess it should be taken either once just before lunch everyday; or twice, once before breakfast and once before dinner. This depends entirely on how you can tolerate the mild gastric irritation that can be caused by the antibiotic. For now, you may use it once a day, and if you seem to be doing well, then continue the same, but if you feel some discomfort then change this to twice daily. To be taken for the same duration as antibiotics.
The syrup is a urine alkalizer which has to be taken twice daily, morning and night, as rightly mentioned by you. Two teaspoons, which can be diluted with a little water and consumed. No sir, it does not matter whether this is taken before or after meals. It can even be taken between meals. To be taken for about 5-7 days.
I hope I have succeeded in explaining all medications in a manner best understood by you sir. But please feel free to write back to me if I have failed to explain anything well enough, or if you have any further clarifications.
Wishing you a speedy recovery and a healthy life thereafter,
God bless.
