Having Multi Organ Infection. Having Bleeding From Lungs. What Is The Cause?

Question: My friend's father is near 68 year old had fever and weakness for past 2 months managed at home with physician recommended basic medicines.later on health degraded just 18 days back and admitted to hospital. further it is found that he has multi organ infection and malfunction and also put on ventilator. infected organs are (as told by my friend) kidneys, liver , lungs & heart. BP normal and no sugar only infection. treated with antibiotics / other medicines too & dialysis regularly. Infection reduced after 3 rd day but bleeding started in lungs while on ventilator,which stopped and again started after 3 days . my friend is not able to understand and pulmonologist says it serious. i just want to know is there any other way to treat or what about shifting him to apollo hospital in hyderabad . this hospital is also superspeciality hospital but we dont know experience of doctors . request your advice.latest is that critical condition ,bp increasing up to150/87 and platellets 19000 and bleeding stops and start .i am giving my friend number and updated in profile too. my no is 0000 pls do need ful.

Your friends father seems to be suffering from multiorgan failure with thrombocytopenia with diffuse alveolar hemarrhage with probably associated septicemia. The condition is very critical. 2. I am sure if the patient is at a superspeciality hospital then specialist must be involved in the care of the patient. Being a pulmonologist, I would like to mention here that bleeding into the lungs diffuse alveolar hemorrhage is a very serious condition and with platelet at 19000, platelet transfusion may have been considered. The main aim of treatment is currently to support the functions of the organs which are failing. In such a condition weaning the patient from ventilator is difficult. 3. You have mentioned that the BP is increasing. How is his orientation? Please enquire with the doctors regarding his neurological status? 4. Apollo hyderabad is definitely a good hospital, but consideration must also be made to the condition of the patient and the risks involved in transportation. I hope I have answered your query. THANKS FOR UR REPLY SIR BUT SAD PART IS THAT HIS FATHER PASSED AWAY TODAY AT 1600 HRS.SIR JUST HAVE QUESTION ,WHY THESES VIRUSES COMES AND CATCH BY OUR BODY IF THIS WAY ANY VIRUS COMES THER WUD BE NO GURANTEE OF LIFE.IS THERE ANY WAY TO AVOID IT AND CAN WE ENSURE TO AVOID MUTIORGAN FAILURE WHILE WE ARE HEALTHY.THANKS SIR

Age of more than 60 years is a risk factor for various diseases as immunity decreases with age. This is where lifestyle modification plays its part. You need to have a stress free life with healthy diet and regular physical activity. Regular medical check up is recommended. You should get a complete medical check up atleast every 5 yrs. 2. Adult vaccination is another aspect that we do not pay attention to. Vaccinations like yearly flu vaccination and 5 yrly pneumococcal vaccinations definitely help. 3. Avoidance of addictions like alcohol and smoking help in the long run. 4. If any diseases are diagnosed, then regular medications under medical supervision should be taken for the same.
