Having Night Sweats, Swelling On Neck And Fever. What Is The Cause?
Question: i am 26 male i woke up yesterday with the left side of my neck swollen I feel fine except last nite i had fever/nite sweats.. what could it be?

Swelling and fever orient towards an infectious cause of this swelling. It shall be interesting to know whether the fever and swelling both started at the same time or not. Also, if you have been having night sweats for a long time or not. Acute swelling of the neck can be due a viral, bacterial or at times an allergic reaction.
It would also be interesting to know if you have any difficulties in swallowing or not and if you have noticed any associated lymph nodes ( small, rubbery masses that you can feel under your fingers).
Clinically assessing swelling and fever usually deserved running some blood tests to identify the exact causative agent, measure the severity of the illness and orient the treatment. An early and correct diagnoses permits an appropriate and timely treatment, which is off course surer, safer and generally cheaper.
Visiting your family physician for a complete physical examination and running of these tests if necessary is a good idea. Since the onset was acute, its worth knowing and sensible to assess fast and detect the cause as soon as possible.
