Having Pain In Rectal Area. Difficult To Walk Or Sit On Chair. Noticed Blood In Stools. Remedy?
I am having severe pain in the rectum area. Sudden pain shoots up when I cough or sneeze, also when using rectum muscles when passing stools. Pains is more during day time when I am sitting on chair. It's been like this past Abt a week and in beginning was very severe as had difficulty in walking, but reduced after couple of days and now for past 2-3 days again increased. Presently didn't notice any blood in stools but yes in past had some days when red fresh blood came when passing stools. Kindly advise.
Thank you for contacting XXXXXXX with your question.
I am concerned about the severe pain in the rectal area
along with the bleeding that you have had.
There are a few possibilities . Most common problem
that we see is Hemorrhoids or Piles. If there is blockage
of the veins in these , that is called "Thrombosed " and
this can cause pain and bleeding as well. This usually
happens if a person is constipated and has to strain to
have a bowel movement. Other condition is "Fissure"
or a tear in the lining of the anal canal which can give
severe pain and also bleeding. Again, this happens when
a person has a very hard stool and strains to pass it.
You are close to fifty (Not quite ) and you have to consider
the possibility of growth or tumor (Polyps) in the rectum.
Polyps can be benign or cancerous. These could also cause
pain and bleeding.
To diagnose any of these , you do need to see a proctologist
or a colon and rectal specialist or a gastroenterologist.
You might need to have a sigmoidoscopy or a colonoscopy
to take a good look inside.
If you have serious constipation problem , I recommend
that you use some stool softener daily along with staying
on a high fiber diet. Make sure you drink enough fluids daily.
I suggest that you contact your doctor as soon as possible
to have the problem looked at and taken care of.
I wish you the very best.
