Having Severe Nerve Pain And Anxiety. Taking Lyrica. Guide?

Thanks for asking in Healthcare Magic.
Lyrica is Pregabalin. It is basically an anti epileptic drug and is also used in neuropathic pain. It acts by modifying (increasing) the release of GABA (Gamma Amino Butyric Acid) and also by decreasing the release of glutamate. By increasing the level of GABA, an inhibitory neurotransmitter and by decreasing the level of glutamic acid, an excitatory amino acid Pregabalin reduces the neurone transmission responsible for pain.
Pregabalin is not metabolized (destroyed) and is excreted unchanged. Also it results in minimal drug interactions. But the duration of action ranges only from 4.5 to 7.0 hours and so you will need to take it more than once a day.
The maximum dose of Pregabalin is up to 600 mg. But such a high dose can result in severe side effects like dizziness, blurred vision, tremor, tachycardia and so on. Lyrica is available as 75 mg and 150 mg cap. You are taking an ideal dose. Any change in the dose should be done only after consulting your treating Dr as it is XXXXXXX to manipulate with the dose.
So if the pain is very severe, then after consulting your treating Dr you can either divide the existing dose as 150 mg twice a day because the duration of action is only for a maximum period of 7 hours or increase the dose to 225 mg (150+75 mg) twice a day.
I hope this helps. Please address to me if you have any further concerns.
Regards.
