Having Stomach Tightness, Bloating And Constipation. What Treatment Is Required?

I usually eat small healthy meals, but I drink more caffeine than I should. I also drink 2-3 glasses of wine per night and do not drink as much water as I should. I have been constipated. There is no blood in the stools.
Abdominal, constipation and bloating are classic symptoms
suggestive of "Irritable Bowel Syndrome" very common at
your age group.Sometimes, this follows an intestinal
infection.Any time I see patients with IBS symptoms, I
always want to rule out a couple of culprits.
One is Celiac disease and the more common problem
Lactose Intolerance. Both can be ruled out by simple tests.
Celiac panel blood test is very helpful. As for lactose intolerance,
there is a simple breath test that you can take, done at a lab
or a gastroenterologist's office. It is well worth this.
Celiac is an auto-immune disorder when a person is
Gluten sensitive(Gluten is in wheat, Rye or Barley products)
This causes damage to the lining of the small intestine
and affects absorption of nutrients and vitamins.
If that is diagnosed a person has to be on a strict gluten free
diet for life.
As for lactose intolerance, you can avoid lactose containing
products or take lactaid supplements.
Hope this helps your concerns
Wish you well.
