Hello - I Wanted To Run This Event By Some
My wife and I agreed in advance to doing a XXXXXXX drive by birthday parade for her mom's birthday. What ended up happening at the end of the parade, was ~40 family members and friends ended up getting out of their vehicles and congregating in the driveway, front lawn, and neighbors front lawn and driveway. Some wearing masks, some not. Some socially distanced, some not. This wasn’t part of what my wife and I agreed to, she said people would drive by and leave.
Since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, we have been sticking to a bubble of her parents, my parents, her grandma, and my grandpa as we have two young children together that we wanted grandparents and great-grandparents to continue seeing. We are very confident in behaviors and precautions these immediate members take. However during this parade my wife’s dad was handing out cupcakes to people in their vehicles with no mask on. Probably the first 7-10 cars with at least 1 person in each car not wearing a mask, nor him (I know for sure that 2 of the vehicles had 4 people in them with no masks on). After he already interacted with 7+ people with neither party wearing masks, he put one on. Her grandmother did not wear a mask the entire time either.
Since her dad and grandma are in our bubble of people we see several times a week, I suggested to my wife the morning after that we quarantine from her parents and grandma for 14 days. My concern being with her dad’s interactions with people and neither party wearing masks. I don’t know if he was exposed to anyone with COVID-19, but I’m concerned that maybe he could have been and is part of our bubble that we’d see several times per week. I’m concerned this may have turned into a super spreader event. My wife thinks I'm being ridiculous and is not going to quarantine. Not up for discussion from her. Am I over-reacting? Me, my wife and kids were wearing masks and socially distancing as much as possible, her parents weren't at the very beginning (her mom interacted with 1 or 2 people without a mask and then put one on) and her grandma didn't wear a mask the entire time. Since we regularly interact with her parents and grandma, that is the reason I proposed quarantining. My ask is, am I over-reacting as my wife is suggesting? Would love to hear your take / input. I know you don't have all the information to make a definite decision.

Hello
Welcome To Ask A Doctor Service
I have gone through your question, I understand your concern.
In such type of gatherings, covid 19 can infection is definitely possible, if some covid-19 positive person was there.
So quarantine is not a bad idea.
I hope your query is clear now.
Thanks and regards
