
Hello- I Am A 43 Year Old Female Who Up

Question: Hello- I am a 43 year old female who up until recently experienced fairly regular (within a day or two) periods at 28 day intervals. For the past two cycles my period has changed to 24 days. What could be the cause?

The reduction in cycle length is due to hormone variations. It could be because of the decreased estrogen secretion from ovary which usually occurs after the age of 40. . The hormone variation can also occur due to sudden changes in weight and stress ( physical or mental).
Any cycle length more than 21 days is normal. So you need not worry.

Thanks so much for your timely reply. Do symptoms of pms such as bloating digestive problems... seem to increase during one’s forties. It seems as though symptoms of pms have become more exaggerated as age

I last question while on my period and shortly after I notice a flare of my irritable bowel syndrome symptoms at times it’s difficult to know if it’s my intestines acting up or It’s menstral cramps is it common to confuse the two can they feel similar
