Hello- I Had An Endoscopy On Friday. They Found Benign-

I had an endoscopy on Friday. They found Benign- appearing esophageal stenosis and a small hiatal hernia. They conducted a esophageal dilation. On the release papers, there is a lot about resting, my diet, and care for GERD type tendencies. I don't see anything about a potential sore throat, although I see from research it's common (and would expect it). My concern is that I have lost voice projection- since yesterday. I am going into 2 days of loss of voice. Is this normal? I am drinking warm anti- inflammatory drinks and plan to call in tomorrow when staff returns.
voice pitch alteration-quite normal in post dilatation recovery phase.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Ask A Doctor services.
I have read your query and here is my advise.
* As per my surgical experience, voice alteration past esophageal dilatation
procedure can be due to inflammation, congestion of esophagus, vocal
cord irritation or else.
* In most of the cases, such presentation is transient and corrects over the
period of time with internal healing process.
And there is no threat of loss of voice within next 2 days for you.
* Continue medications and gargles as per the advise by your doc and
discuss tomorrow with the staff regarding your query so whether they can
add some medications for the same or else.
Wish you best recovery.
Regards.
