Hello- I Have CIDP . It Originally Came On With

Question: Hello-
I have CIDP. It originally came on with all the typical symptoms in arms and legs. After 2 remissions, both relapses were confined to leg weakness (especially my thighs). I have been lucky that my arms have been spared and not much pain as I had an early diagnosis and have been treated monthly with IVIG. I don't have a drop foot or anything like that- just low energy and endurance. That said, for the last 4+ months, I noticed a path on my right thing only that seems to have more visible veins that has surface level prickling feeling. It's a bit burning to touch- like something scraped, but it's definitely below the surface. Since CIDP attacks the nerves, could this be Meralgia paresthetica? or could this be something related to the veins? It's an irritating pain but nothing unbearable. I just don't want to ignore signs if there is a larger concern.

Brief Answer:
It could be a manifestation of CIDP or meralgia
Detailed Answer:
Hi Deitra,
Thank you for the very elaborate history and very clever considerations as to a diagnosis. The symptoms you describe could be related to your CIDP, and luckily, this is likely to regress completely within a few months to years. Meralgia is certainly a good differential diagnosis, and if a weight loss helps, this supports the diagnosis. I recommend you try over-the-counter pain killers, acetaminophen, NSAID, etc. for symptomatic relief. If it doesn't get better, please write to me again. Without a photo, it is difficult to comment on the veins you describe. Please send at your convenience.
Best wishes.
