Hello! About Two Weeks Ago While In The Shower I

Question: Hello! About two weeks ago while in the shower I felt a small bump in the inside of my vulva. I am attaching a few pictures as best as II could take, with the area circled. It is firm and about the same color as the vulvar skin. Can you please take a look and let me know what it may be and whether it’s anything to worry about? Thank you!

Brief Answer:
It can be a Bartholin's cyst.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concerns.
I have seen the attached image. The small swelling on the vulva seems to be a small sebaceous cyst or a Bartholin's cyst.
In case it is not painful then you can do a hot compress and apply local antiseptic cream like Neosporin H and see if it helps. In case the swelling increases in size or becomes painful then proper antibiotics will be needed for its treatment.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow-up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.

Thank you so much Dr. Tayal! I appreciate your kindness and expertise! I won’t be having my annual appointment with my gynecologist until a few months from now, so just a follow up question: can I expect that the cyst may continue to be there for a period of time? Thanks again!

Brief Answer:
The cyst may persist for a while.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
The cyst may persist for a while or may get suppressed in case the fluid inside the cyst flows out. No need to worry. You can discuss this with your gynecologist during your annual examination.
Hope my answer is helpful.
