Hello, After A Car Accident, In Which I Suffered Whip

Question: Hello, After a car accident, in which I suffered whip lash, when I was in my early/mid twenties I started experiencing heart palpitations. I was a collegiate soccer player and still played recreationally at that time a few nights per week and I was very active without any previous symptoms or conditions at that point. After a 30 day Holter monitor and EKG my cardiologist said that several times per day my readings look like I have went for a run, my heart speeds up in a natural looking way and slows down in a natural looking way. However, there’s nothing natural about it as I could be at rest, working at a desk or sleeping. He said it wasn’t dangerous and gave me a few techniques to try to reset it if I feel it. I have been living with this just fine for several years. This past year (I’m now 38) I started to swell in my fingers when walking and my Doctor started to tell me that my blood pressure was borderline high but that I don’t need medication yet. I just had a ten hour surgery on July 23 for Endometriosis and I spent 12 days in the hospital because it was so prolific throughout my abdomen. While in the hospital my BP and HR were high and I continued to track after. I was in tachycardia for the three weeks following and then my resting HR finally started to decline. It is now in the high 40s-50s. My blood pressure is back to being in the normal range while at rest for awhile. However, light activity like walking downstairs in my house, cooking dinner, showering, brushing my teeth...can all push up my diastolic blood pressure between 87-95. My HR also jumps up between 100-130 as well. I am seeing a cardiologist again I’m currently on a Holter monitor, I received a stress test and ECHO yesterday as well and I await results from all three. My EKGs always look fine. So far I’ve never met a cardiologist that can put a name to this and it appears to be expanding/increasing symptoms. Family history: My maternal first cousin passed away at 30 years old after complications with a pacemaker he had installed for cardiomyopathy. My father was born with a heart murmur and now in his 60’s the top of his heart is a little enlarged and causing some concern. Have you ever had a patient with the symptoms I described (appearance of naturally speeding up and slowing down as if I’m running when I’m not)? Did you discover what was causing it (I know it likely has to do with electrical signals but do you have a name for what this could be?)

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Are going through the medical history provided by you I can understand your concern for your health and I would like to tell you that yes we do have many patients who comes to us with complain of either uneasiness or pictures discomfort or palpitations and on evaluation we found them to have alternate episodes of fast and slow heart rates.

The medical term used for this is called sick sinus syndrome. However before jumping on any conclusion I would like to personally see your previous reports. Also I would like to see your latest holter and echocardiogram reports once they come.

Kind Regards
