Question: Hello,

Can anyone put this in layperson language for me? CT was performed on 5/28/19 and my doctor called 5/30/19 and said "lung cancer". After that I lost it and didn't hear another thing that he said. Could someone interpret this test and let me know if it is lung cancer , stage, prognosis etc. - basically everything that can be determined by the test.?

I would be grateful for any and all information that can be provided.

Gratefully,

FINDINGS:
There is a right lower lobe infrahilar mass, difficult to measure amidst
the adjacent unopacified pulmonary vessels. There is right hilar
lymphadenopathy. There is subcarinal lymphadenopathy measuring 1.6 x 3.1
cm. There is abnormal nodularity and thickening extending from the right
infrahilar mass along right lower lobe segmental bronchovascular bundle
which is suspicious for tumor. Lungs and pleural spaces are otherwise
clear. Upper abdominal images through the adrenal glands show a cirrhotic
appearing liver. No ascites. Unremarkable bones.

Brief Answer:
Ct scan

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking

To make sure for the cancer diagnosis and types we need to have the biopsy of the mass done.

In this CT report it’s seems like tumor it’s Stage 2 because he has spread to the lymph nodes.
In my opinion you should consult pneumologist -oncologist for further examination and treatment.

At this stage is this treatable, curable or can it be treated into remission?

What do you call this type of cancer?

Your best guess at prognosis with immediate treatment?

Thank you.

Of course it’s curable in this stage ,and there are a lot of choices but of course your doctor will inform you for the treatment plan after the biopsy results, because it’s very important to know the type of the cancer
