Hello Doc. I'm 28 Years Female And 9 Months Postpartum...

Question: Hello Doc. I'm 28 years female and 9 months postpartum... I took echo as a part of my master check-up. My cardiologist said that the report was normal and nothing to be worried about. But later when I read it fully, I came across the term ivc 0.8 cm collapsing. That's really concerning me. Please brief me about it and whether it's normal or not. Thank you Doctor.
Brief Answer:
It's not worrisome
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
It's fine and not worrisome. Normally, ivc is collapsing. And regarding diameter, usually more than 1.2. This depends on fluid status of the individuals, if one is dehydrated or not taken any fluid for long then it may reduce and may increase with fluid intake. Also, diameter depends on, in what phase of respiration it is measured. Also, minor error during measurement may lead to change in measured diameter. So, it's not a significant finding in normal individuals. It's important in patients with cardiac or renal failure or critically ill patients.
So, in my opinion there is nothing to worry about it.
Hope this helps you and get back if you have any doubts.

Thank you Doctor. My husband also did a master checkup. Everything is fine with regards to heart. I've only two concerns with what I found. His HDL is 28 mg/dL and is mentioned high risk. He is 31 year old. Can you please tell me the ways to increase good cholesterol?. His LDL was around 95.7 mg/dL. His echo n ecg reports are good. But his heart rate was around 51. He works out regularly but not an athlete. Is low heart rate fine?
Brief Answer:
It's fine
Detailed Answer:
Heart rate is fine for him if he is not having any symptoms like dizziness etc. Also, thyroid test should be done if not done recently. Low heart rate may be due to work outs.
There is no specific treatment necessary for low HDL. Medicines are not recommended at this age. Just need to have healthy lifestyle like avoiding fatty oily and high calorie diet. Regular exercises to maintain ideal weight. Stopping alcohol or smoking if any. Other risk factors if any arises in the future should be treated promptly.
