Hello Doc , My Baby Has A Wound In Her

Question: Hello Doc , My baby has a wound in her feet as per the attached picture. It happened 2 weeks ago and the doctor gave 2 medications

1. Cefixime Pediatric Antibiotic
2. Fusidin cream

Baby recovered from infection and wound started to heal and hard crust formed over the wound.

However as my baby is very active and keeps on running from one place to another and rubbing this feet area from one object to other from wall to chair , the hard crust has again come off.

We have again started to apply Fusidin. Please advice what we can do to heal the WOUND ASAP.

Really need the wound to heal quickly. Also since this area of feet doesnt have muscle and has bone and tendons below , i am bit more worried. However there doesnt seem to be any infection as of now.

Brief Answer:
Where do you live?

Detailed Answer:
Hi Ceo,

Where do you live? Any recent travels abroad? Insect bites? Does the wound itch? To me, it looks like a parasitic wound. Has swabs for bacterial and parasitic cultures been taken?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hello Doc
My name is Gairik. We live in Dubai UAE. No travels abroad. No insect bites. It itches mildly. this wound was initially caused by baby hitting the edge of wooden table. After this we have given a course of antibiotic and fusidin cream.Post that a hard crust developed which was again hit today as my baby moves around very fast and hits objects like side of the table. she is active and plays by jumping around which hurts the healing.
No swabs or bacterial cultures are taken. But we apply Fusidin Ointment daily.

Brief Answer:
I would get a swab

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,

It is probably nothing, but I suggest you get a swab of the wound to see if there are bacteria or some such in it that should be treated with certain antibiotics, and not fusidin. You could also try to put some gaze around it so that any small bumps won't rip it up.

Hope this helps.
