Hello Doc , My Baby Has A Wound In Her

default

Question: Hello Doc , My baby has a wound in her feet as per the attached picture. It happened 2 weeks ago and the doctor gave 2 medications

1. Cefixime Pediatric Antibiotic

2. Fusidin cream

Baby recovered from infection and wound started to heal and hard crust formed over the wound.

However as my baby is very active and keeps on running from one place to another and rubbing this feet area from one object to other from wall to chair , the hard crust has again come off.

We have again started to apply Fusidin. Please advice what we can do to heal the WOUND ASAP.

Really need the wound to heal quickly. Also since this area of feet doesnt have muscle and has bone and tendons below , my feeling is healing might take some time. However there doesnt seem to be any infection as of now.

Brief Answer:
Apply alginate dressing or paraffin gauze

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for asking on this platform

I have gone through the query and do understand your concern. Sorry but I did not find any attached pic.
These area are called pressure area of body and here skin over lies the bone. Healing is usually delayed in these area if friction continues.
I won't get overly worried if there is no sign of active infection like continuous oozing of yellow discharge or any pus formation.
A scab may itch as the skin underneath heals and scratching or picking the scab may damage the underlying skin and healing may delayed. It may be really difficult to hold children to avoid play and thus damage to the scab but that is the best measure.
You can apply alginate dressing or paraffin dressing to avoid injury or friction to the area. If tgere is no active infection you can stop using fucidin cream.
Follow all hygiene precautions to avoid any kind of infection.
I hope this helps.
Please let me know if you have any more doubts.

Brief Answer:
Have seen the image, continue applying antibiotic along with dressing

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Sorry for the delay,
Thanks for following up...
I have seen the image.

There is vascular base which indicates that new skin will form there. By appearance there is no sign of active infection.

In such a condition I would suggest you continue applying Fucidin ointment and dressing with paraffin or alginate gauze. Antibiotic cream Fucidin will help in the prevention of bacterial infection.

As wound is a little deep, it may take 2-3 weeks for recovery.

I hope this helps.
I shall be glad to help further if you need any.
Regards
