Hello, thanks for the images and sorry for the inconvenience.

As shown in images dry, scaly lesions are visible on hands and legs.

This condition is known as ichthyosis.

It can be either since birth or acquired in the later stages of life...In case it is by birth the condition is known as Ichthyosis Vulgaris.

Acquired ichthyosis can occur in old age, nutritional deficiencies, use of harsh soap and hot water, diabetes, thyroid disorders, infection, etc.

Some medications can also cause ichthyosis.

The management part of this condition includes avoiding hot water during the bath.

Liberal use of moisturizes is the best treatment option available apart from finding out the exact cause.

Cetaphil moisturizing cream is one such brand routinely prescribed by me to patients of ichthyosis. Instead of soap, a mild cleanser is advisable.
