Question: Hello Doctor, I am 35 years male who had Low Risk penetrative activity (as used condom properly & no breakage) with CSW of unknown status. On 30th day (4 week mark), i had HIV 1 & 2 ANTIBODIES SCREENING TEST, SERUM =HIV 1/2 BY FLOW THROUGH IMMUNOFILTRATION (seems Rapid Test) from reputed lab for which HIV 1&2 both came Negative. On 44th day(6th week mark), i again had HIV 1 & 2 ANTIBODIES SCREENING TEST, SERUM=HIV 1 / 2 & P 24 COMBO TEST (CMIA) from same lab & resulted Non-Reactive on next day. On 8th Week mark, i went for:
1. HIV 1 & 2 ANTIBODIES SCREENING TEST, SERUM: Negative
2. VDRL (RPR), SERUM @ (Slide flocculation): Non-Reactive
3. HEPATITIS B SURFACE ANTIGEN (HBsAg), RAPID
SCREENING TEST, SERUM: Non-Reactive
4. HEPATITIS C VIRUS (HCV), RAPID SCREENING
TEST, SERUM: Non-Reactive
For all the 3 tests, blood was drawn from vein & sent to lab.
Kindly guide am i safe or is it the end of hope for me as i am googling like crazy every hour & any abnormality like cough, pimple, uneasiness in throat (no pain while swallowing food) etc. is being looked as a symptom of HIV. Looking for ray of hope. Thanks
doctor

Brief Answer:
You are safe and risk free from HIV.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Welcome to Ask a Specialist Service.

You had protected sex using condom and the condom was intact throughout the act then as such there is no risk of getting HIV. Further, the test results for HIV Duos Combo test are negative after 8 weeks which is highly relaible and conclusive so you need not to worry much. Just calm down, forget the episode and get tested again after 12 weeks to get 100% conclusive result. For any other query feel free to ask me again any time.

Thank You

Brief Answer:
These are not HIV symptoms.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Itching on feet and joint pain are not the specific symptoms of HIV. They might be due to allergy or some other reason. Don't co-relate every thing with HIV, calm down and forget the episode because you are absolutely safe and risk free.
