Hello Doctor, I Am A 57 Year Old Male From
Question: Hello Doctor, I am a 57 year old male from the UK, living in Indonesia. For the last two to three days I have felt a slightly numb feeling to the right side of my stomach. Also, at times I have a general feeling of being unwell, and felt a flushing sensation in my face. Right now I’m feeling Ok, but I would like to ask for your professional advice? Should I seek medical assistance?
Brief Answer:
Symptoms are non specific.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
The symptoms are non specific and most probably it will be minor phase of gastroenteritis or other viral illness.
Do you have any chest discomfort or weakness of any side of your body? Any symptoms like black out or double visions?
As of now drink plenty of water and take bed rest.
You can check your blood pressure as high BP can cause these symptoms.
Generally it will settle by itself in couple of days.
If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.
Hope I have answered your query.

Thank you for your reply Doctor.
No, I don’t have any of the symptoms you mention.
I’ll get my blood pressure checked, as you suggest.
For my age, what is the normal range for blood pressure? What would be considered high?

Brief Answer:
130 over 80 will be the normal range for your age.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Considering your age, blood pressure readings of 130 over 80 is considered normal. Slight increase is acceptable.
You can check your blood pressure every month and if persistently high, medical attention must be sought.
Wishing all the best.
Thanks

Hello Doctor, this morning, the area of my stomach that was feeling a bit numb before now feels sensitive to touch, and I have a slight ache/pain that runs around my right side and into my lower back. Also, and I don’t know if this might be related, but I felt a slight numbness/tingling in my lower lip.
I haven’t checked my blood pressure yet. I hope to do that later today.

Brief Answer:
An MRI is required if symptoms persist.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
High blood pressure is a possible cause for numbness.
However other causes like TIA( transient ischemic attack) or XXXXXXX stroke can also cause similar symptoms. You can wait for spontaneous recovery. If symptoms persist an MRI may be required.
Hope I have answered your query.
