Hello Doctor, I Have Twins (Girls) And They Are 4.9

I have Twins (Girls) and they are 4.9 yrs old. One of them often struggles to go for potty. She ends up involuntarily releasing a dry piece of stool in her underwear and then when we try to put her in potty chair she is unable to go any further. This happens frequently. We tried giving her arrow root powder which helped to some extent but the episode is very frequent. We even tried giving infrequent doses of econorm (whenever she showed symptoms) and that did not help much as well. After several such episodes she will end up going to potty properly, and the same symptoms will re-appear in a couple of days. Please let us know how to take care of it.
Most likely due to constipation, give plenty of fluids add some laxatives
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for asking on this platform
I have gone through the query and do understand your concern.
This commonly occurs when the baby suffers from constipation.
I would suggest you to give plenty of fluids.
Give some laxative like lactulose for 4-5 days as this helps in relieving constipation and making the bowel regular. Once bowel pattern gets normal give polyethylene glycol for some longer duration after consulting your pediatrician.
You can continue giving Econorm (probiotics) as it helps in maintaining healthy gut flora and also makes bowel regular. Yoghurt or curd is a good substitute of Econorm if given for longer duration.
I would like to know if there is any urinary difficulty like increased frequency, burning micturition or dribbling of urine;as all these are symptoms of uti and it leads to constipation. If any of these symptoms are there please consult with your pediatrician to rule out urinary tract infection.
I hope this helps.
Please let me know if you have any more questions.
Regards
