Question: Hello Doctor,

I have a question regarding Tetanus. I was trying to fix my exercise cycle today but while fixing I got a very minor cut of around 1 mm (Picture attached). I am not sure if the cycle area from which I got the cut was having Rust and dust on it. I am little concerned if I should go for Tetanus vaccination. I had DTAP (Diphtheria-Tetanus-Pertussis) vaccination around 2 years back while my wife was pregnant.
Request for your advice if I need to go for Tetanus vaccination. As of now, I cleaned the area with water and applied Neosporin.

no need of tetanus vaccination at present, reasons provided below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor services.
I have read your query and evaluated attached photo image of hand.

* As per the WHO guidelines, you are under the tetanus prophylaxis coverage through
your DPT vaccination ( which you had taken 2 years back ) via way of active
immunisation process of the body and that confers immunity of upto 10 years period.

So you do not require at present tetanus vaccination irrespective of rust status of the cycle area.

Just take care of the minor wound for faster healing.
